Start-Rite and Clarks both engineer their school styles with reinforced toes (against playground scuffs), padded ankle collars (for comfort across a long school day), and proper width fittings (F standard, G and H for wider feet). Most boys' school shoes also have removable insoles, so you can put in fresh ones if odour or sweat becomes an issue.
